In the near future time-frame Intel is to launch Sandy Bridge based processors. New Intel processors always come with a new motherboard chipset to support them. The P series motherboard chipsets (codename Cougar point) are performance series without any integrated graphics connectivity, the H series of course vice versa.
In today's preview we'll show you a very exquisite offering from ECS, we'll preview their P67H2-A Sandy bridge motherboard. Now since the processors and chipset itself are still under NDA we can not disclose nor discuss them.

ASUS Rampage III Gene review

Cute tiny and sexy .. don't we all like it ? Within that motto ASUS has it's own Gene series within the motherboard line up. Now if you put that on the X58 platform, it's called Rampage by ASUS. And then when this apocalyptic group of minions and demons called 'Republic of Gamers' aka ROG gets their hands on a product like this, you can expect improvements and extra overclock features.
The end results is is, the ASUS Rampage III Gene ROG edition. You know, it is hard to believe that the first Core i7 processors and this chipset were released ages ago. I mean, the Core i7 965 Extreme and X58 chipset were released in 2008, November the 3rd 2008 to be precise.

Small hardware with big features 


With the ongoing trend of HTPCs and System on a Chip designs in the past year or so we have seen a growing demand for hardware that's getting smaller. Next to the actually ICs especially small form factor motherboards are definitely a topic of growth and trend.
See, today's tested motherboard for example is only 17 x 17 cm on size, and while it has limited options here and there, it can function even as a full high-end PC if you wanted it to. There's no real limit to what processor you use, and if you pop a Core i7 870 processor on this motherboard and inject a dedicated graphics card you might have created the smallest yet  fantastic gaming rig you can carry around.
